Budison

Madison and Babushka circa 2014.

Madison and Babushka met on February 7, 2011, after a government experiment made them move in with each other along with three other strangers. Being the only two females in the household, they quickly became friends. For the longest time, Madison was Babushka's first and only friend. Babushka didn't like other people and others found her too intimidating. They had a few major fights over the years but their friendship remained strong until the very last day. Madison got offered the opportunity to open for Dorothy Pat's world tour while Babushka moved to Rosey with her ex-boyfriend, leaving the pair separated.

As adults, their relationship grows a bit more complex. Madison is now in a long distance open marriage with Samuel and Babushka is happily single. After seeing photos of Babushka wearing lingerie, Madison develops strong romantic and sexual feelings for her best friend. Babushka later rediscovers her feelings for Madison when she sees her peel an orange. It's very awkward between the pair as neither are aware of their feelings for one another. Madison eventually gets an opportunity to get signed to a major record label in LA but Babushka sabotages the interview. When Madison questions why she did it, Babushka answers "why do you think?". Madison still gets offered the job but she turns it down for Babushka. A few weeks later, Madison writes and performs a song named "Paralyzed" about Babushka. Midway through the performance, Babushka realises she's singing the song about her. After the concert, the pair confess their feelings for one another before sharing a big kiss.

Appearance and Personality

  • Eye Colour: Green
  • Hair Colour: Blonde
  • Skin Colour: White
Madison Season 1 Promo

Madison can be described as a beautiful, averagely-tall, slim, creamy pale-skinned girl with chest-length blonde hair and green eyes. She usually changes her hair through-out the series. For season 1 and the first half of season 2, her hair is curly; then from the second half of season 2 all the way through to the first half of season 4, her hair is straightened. As of It, she begins to curl her hair again and adds some body and bounce to it, which shows that she is growing up.

Her fashion sense is known to vary, suggesting she may be a downplayed fashionista or have a hidden gift for design. In season 1, she seems to wear coloured tights and knee socks and wears a lot of bright colours. Through out the series her sense of style matures as she begins to wear stylish yet comfortable clothes.

Her personality can be described as sweet, girly and ambitious. In the beginning, she is the only person Babushka accepts as a friend which instantly shows how likeable and approachable she is. She's also shown to be quite intelligent at the start of the series and has a passion to get good grades, hence applying for student council leader in The Punishment You Get. As the series goes on, she appears to get a bit more ditzy (she flunks a job application and needs "cheat sheets" in order to impress a smart guy) and seems to care more about boys than good grades (as shown in Crushed when she refuses to study for her math test until her crush likes her back).

She sees the best in everyone and loves to give people advice. It's later seen when she starts dating Samuel that she is very overprotective and gets jealous and clingy very easily.

Relationships with other Characters

Samuel

(2011-2012: Best Friend, 2012-2014: On-and-off boyfriend, 2014-present: Ex-boyfriend)

Madison initially thinks that Samuel is creepy, and didn't like the fact that he was flirting with her. Through-out a majority of the first season, her and Samuel are really close friends. There are some instances where she knew that Samuel liked her (such as Oh, LorettaThe Punishment You Get etc), however there are others where she didn't know (like in Crystal Comes to Town, she is surprised when Samuel admits his crush on her). Madison did not view Samuel romantically at that moment. Madison is so annoyed at Samuel's crush on her that it makes her really upset. After Samuel apologises, Madison suggests that although she is too young to think about love, crushes or relationships, she is willing to date Samuel in two or three years. Ironically, that did happen.

Madison and Samuel grow closer in the second season. Madison considers Samuel as a close friend and his words make her turn her life around and not go to the mall while she was supposed to be studying. As Samuel's crush on her appears to have faded, she still remains close to him.

Madison flirts with Samuel during their anniversary party, calling him "cute" in his suit. She also accidentally kisses him on the cheek when she sees the helicopter land on the roof of the hotel. This hints that Madison may have been harbouring secret feelings for Samuel. She also blushes when Samuel winks at her while she is performing in Babysitter Meets Spontaneous

Whatever Madison feels for Samuel, it is forgetten when she started dating a new guy called Simon. This relationship didn't last, though.

Many fans speculated that Madison grew feelings for Samuel while they were trapped in the elevator during the black-out in Heat Wave. This is still unconfirmed, however the fact that Madison did have feelings for Samuel through-out the rest of the season implies this. Madison actually admits that she had feelings for Samuel to her New York bestie Nicole in Wireless Internet Service, by telling her that she has her eye on one guy while looking in Samuel's direction.

Madison's crush on Samuel wasn't brought up again until Willy the Monster. Samuel asks Madison to kiss him and she says no, however she appears to be blushing.

Boo Boo Is History explored Madison's crush even further, where Madison tells Steve (her kidnapper) that Samuel is her boyfriend. When Steve threatens to send a break-up text to Samuel using Madison's phone, Madison screams, "Samuel is the best thing that has ever happened to me!" which sounds very genuine (even though they aren't technically dating yet). After Samuel and the others eventually rescue her, Madison is very thankful. Samuel begins to ask Madison out but Madison says yes before he could finish his sentence, thus forming their romantic relationship. Madison seems very happy and lively after her and Samuel get together.

While her and Samuel are dating, she begins to show signs of being clingey and jealous, as shown in Best Friends where she gets her job back to spy on Samuel and his friend, and Girl That Has To Come when Natalie threatens to steal Samuel away from her. She's seen to be very overprotective of Samuel and doesn't want to hurt his feelings.

She is absolutely heartbroken and shattered when she finds out Samuel cheated on her, and her trust in him is immediately broken. She painfully breaks up with him. A few weeks after the break-up, she realises she still has feelings for him after he saves her from getting burnt in Number Two On Your Shoe. She decides to put her heartbreak aside and tries to win him back. She is of course heartbroken when she finds out that Samuel is seeing another girl, Brittany. Despite this, she doesn't hide her feelings away from him through-out the rest of the third season. When her and Samuel share a goodbye kiss in Bye, Bye Madison, this makes her 100% certain that she wants to continue living in Chicago.

In the movie, Madison gets uncomfortable and upset after Matthew proposes to Patricia, after realising that they dated for a shorter time than her and Samuel. She tries her best to move on from him but every guy she dates seems to remind her of Samuel. For the sake of their friendship, she painfully lets Samuel date Brittany.

Madison's feelings for Samuel are still apparent at the start of the fourth season when she makes him hug her on purpose. She subconciously kisses Samuel by accident in Best Friends Forever, Should Not Always Stick Together, rekindling their relationship again.

Madison took offense when Samuel joked about cheating on her again and after a talk, they agree remain friends. Her and Samuel are practically attached by the hip for a majority of the fourth season, and it is implied that she's still in love with him. When Samuel tells her she's still in love with her in As I Lay Crying, she is completely caught off-guard and accidentally tells him to go away. Madison later apologises to him and they rekindle their flame and date in secret.

In the series finale, Madison gets really upset after she finds out that Samuel kept a huge secret from her, and after a big argument in Samuel's car, she refuses to go to his graduation ceremony. She later forgives him after he apologises to her in his speech, and the two of them go their seperate ways on good terms. (See: Mamuel)

Babushka

(2011-present: Best Friend)

They first meet in Pilot, however Babushka becomes offended and "hates" Madison after she accidentally doubts her. After Madison appologises to Babushka, they become best friends. Their friendship is tested in Babysitter Meets Spontaneous when Babushka doesn't approve of Madison and Tane's newfound friendship. They eventually work things out and become best friends again. In Spies & Business Men, Samuel tests out his new business product (the "Bestfriendinator 3000") on the girls and their friendship is turned on its side. However, the girls forgive each other when they realize that they are fighting for no apparent reason. Their friendship is tested for real in Best Friends Forever, Should Not Always Stick Together when Madison is framed saying that her and Babushka's friendship is a lie. After Madison proves that the phone call is false, her and Babushka make up again. Their friendship is left behind in We Are Family when Madison scores herself a record deal whilst Babushka decides to move to Rosey with Spain (See: Budison).

Matthew

(1998-present: Father)

They don't find out about each other's past until the series finale, however despite not knowing they are related, Matthew still acts as a father figure to Madison. Since Matthew is the "leader" of the house, he often grows very protective of Madison just like any father would. He cares about her wellbeing and makes sure she doesn't stay out late past curfew. Madison wants Matthew to succeed in his career despite ruining it by accident a few times (Matthew's Dream Come TrueNot What You Were Hoping For, and almost in Critic's Choice). Matthew is happy to watch Madison achieve her dreams and always wants what's best for her. Madison realises how much she cares about him in A Year's Celebration when Matthew heads back home to Seattle.

Phil

(2011-2014: Friend/Acquaintance)

Phil is strongly disliked by most of the gang living in the hotel room, but Madison is one of the few that is shown to care about him. She cares deeply about his feelings in Million Bucks Bill Sells Sea Shells By The Sea Shore and gives him love advice. They don't share a lot of scenes together but she is willing to help him out in A New Phil when Phil needs to raise money to get plastic surgery to change back. Madison; like the others; don't find Phil's jokes funny and often laughs at them sarcastically.

Million Bucks Bill

(2011-2014: Acquaintance/Neighbour)

Not much of Million Bucks Bill's and Madison's relationship is explored besides Million Bucks Job when she is determined to get his job back after he gets fired. They're not shown to be friends since Million Bucks Bill mainly hangs out with the adults, but they don't seem to dislike each other either.

Patricia

(2011-2014: Neighbour/Good Friend)

Madison and Patricia met on the day Madison and the gang moved in to the Sparks Hotel. She lives in the hotel room directly across the hall from them. They didn't interact all that much initially but Patricia does help Madison out with her science project in Oh, Loretta. Madison is shown to be protective of Patricia's feelings when she puts on a show with sand to cheer her up in Sand For Thought. Madison and Patricia comfort each other in Dirty Cheaters when they both get cheated on by their respective partners. Patricia definitely sees Madison and the others as good friends and moves out of her hotel room in the series finale because she misses them too much.
